The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NAS) will hold the seventh meeting of the BOEM Standing Committee on Offshore Science and Assessment on April 11-12 at the National Academy of Sciences, Keck Center. The meeting is open to the public, although seating is limited. The Academies require advance registration to attend in person. The advance registration, agenda, and live webcast link for both days are posted to the NAS website.

BOEM regional and headquarters scientists will give programmatic updates on the 2019-2024 National OCS Oil and Gas Leasing Program, renewable energy projects, and marine minerals. Discussion topics will include science-informed decision-making and updated studies development criteria. The connections between the Environmental Studies Program and Environmental Assessment will be introduced with examples of the feedback loop.

The April 11 public session will be from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. EDT. The committee will consider comments and questions from the media and public. Comments or questions may be submitted throughout the day by email to osbfeedback@nas.edu.

The April 12 public session is scheduled from 9:00 a.m-4:30 p.m., with the same arrangements for considering comments and questions from the media and the public.

The committee encompasses a broad range of expertise in both natural and social sciences, relevant disciplines within those broad areas, and collective expertise from academia, industry, government, and the non-profit world in all four Outer Continental Shelf regions.
